Supported Boarding

Supported boarding

The Supported Boarding Scheme provides accommodation and support for young people who are ready to move on from state care, but are not quite ready to live on their own. It’s like a stepping stone from fully supported care to independent living in the community.

People with a room to let in their home can apply to become supported boarding providers, they then go through an assessment to ensure that they can provide a safe and supportive environment. Young people board with these people and families in the community, allowing them to experiment with independence in a safe environment. Young people are supported but encouraged to take responsiblity for themselves.
